While summer may only just be upon us, there’s no better time to plan ahead to make sure your home is nice and toasty for the winter. With a high output vertical radiator, you can maximise your space, integrate a stylish design flourish into your décor, but also ensure it will heat your room properly. But how do you know what to look for?
The technical term for describing the heat output of a radiator is a BTU rating. The higher a radiator’s BTU, the hotter it will get. If you’re looking for a high output vertical radiator, you want one with a heat output of at least 7,000 BTUs. If you like it hot, we offer a range that exceed 9,000 BTUs, which will keep things nice and cosy on those cold winter nights.
How hot do I need my high output vertical radiator to be?
Determining how hot you need your radiator to be is another question altogether, as the size of your room will have a big impact on the BTU level you need to get optimum heating performance. Although 7,000 BTUs will be sufficient to heat most spaces, the shape and layout of your room can determine the best radiators to choose.
For long, narrow spaces, a high output vertical radiator may be the best option. For larger, wider spaces, splitting the load across two smaller 3,500 BTU radiators may be a better bet. Painted radiators tend to perform to a similar level regardless of their colour, but a chrome finish could reduce your radiator’s output by as much as 25%... something to bear in mind in kitchens or bathroom, where chrome is a popular choice.
